Kristin’s Book Recommendation

The plain truth is that the Scriptures never teaches us to wait for opportunities of service, but to serve in just the things that lie next to our hands.

African Weddings

There’s just something wonderful about being able to say you were able to see two couples get married and be a part of it. ::Post by Hannah::

Thoughts on Moving, Turning 60, and Various Other Things

As I looked back over my life, I am overwhelmed at how wonderful the Lord has been to me. I am thankful to the Lord for every year of my life. I am thankful for my salvation and for the opportunity to serve the Lord with my life…

Little Things Can Be Big

As we packed for two of our children’s weddings a myriad of little things faced me. Little thoughts and memories wove their way in and out of my mind as I busied myself. Naturally, they all added up to big things! It struck me how often we overlook, underestimate, minimize the little things, not realizing that often these very things can prove so important and special in future days. Little things…can be big.

::Ministry Update:: Haven Baptist Church

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience, but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” -James 1:2-4

::A Botswana Update:: Highways & Byways

Greetings from a sunny and COOL Botswana! This is my favorite time of year. For a couple of months we wear our long sleeves, sweaters and sweat shirts. We enjoy cozy fires on the fireplace and hot coffee on cold mornings. It’s a great time to visit Africa!

Babies at the Border

One of the smartest things we did in preparing for our daughter’s birth was beg, plead, persuade (or otherwise ask!) my in-laws to send my sister-in-law to Thailand for a month.

But I Am Here, So I Cannot Be There

Sometimes people ask me, “What is it like to be a missionary? What changes have come about in your life?” Well, let me just say that it has involved many …

Of Fauna, Flora, Fowl, and Friends

Africa seems a bit lonely without our friends the Norbergs and Wyatts. Just knowing we’re on the same continent, even if unable to visit in person, has a sense of comfort and comradery. On October 6th our home church was blessed to have Gary Norberg in the pulpit. I had texted several ladies asking them to give Stephanie “a hug from Debbie Wilhite.” I think she received 15.

Castner Cronicles – Michelle Castner

Greetings from Botswana! I hope all of you had a good Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a traditional turkey and dressing meal with all the trimmings. Of course, when you are living in a foreign country you have to be a little more creative about some of our traditional dishes. You can’t always find the same ingredients and you learn some pretty interesting substitutions!

News fron Your Next-Door Neighbor – Sue Gable

I trust that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday. The Gable family sure did. We were able to have all five of our children together around the table this year. With 15 of us this is getting more and more difficult. We were especially thankful that Sarah and her husband were willing to drive over 10 total hours to make that happen.

Streams in the Desert – Beverly Hammett

What an interesting two months it has been! The month of October was filled with visitors. We began the month by welcoming our oldest son and his family to Africa and celebrating a few days together in South Africa. Then we had the privilege of having Connie and Kristen Nadaskay with us for a week. About the middle of the month our oldest son and his family came here to visit with us and the Castners, so we had a fun time enjoying the grandkids and spending time together. It was sad to say goodbye to them and send them back to America, but we are so thankful to our home church for letting them come to visit.

Africa’s Ambassadors – Debbie Wilhite

Well, it’s time to refer to the calendar again to see what has transpired in the past 2 months. What would I do without my “outside brain” in written form?!

News from Your Next Door Neighbor – Sue Gable

Hello, from sunny warm Schuylkill County– we sure have been enjoying God’s blessing of beautiful weather these last few weeks, as it has made our two community outreach days very pleasant experiences.

Streams in the Desert – Beverly Hammett

Greetings from Botswana! I can’t believe that it is October already. Our weather is being extremely crazy right now. This past week it was over 100 every day. Then last night the temperature dropped and tonight we have rain and down in the 40’s.
