At a church banquet recently, we were able to get a snapshot of most of our authors. Getting all of our authors together is pretty well impossible, seeing that we live spread out over several continents. But we’ll take advantage of having this many together!
Welcome!

Crock Pot Beef Roast
Amy Hegedus would like to share this crock pot recipe with us. With little prep time, a simple beef roast with gravy, is ready to eat, after a long day of work. She was given this recipe by a friend many years ago and it has become a favorite. Amy and her husband Jim work together, and after a long drive home, they appreciate a meal that is ready to eat when they return. With a little creativity on your part, leftovers can easily be turned into soup, or frozen for later meals.
Crumbly Blueberry Muffins
Fresh blueberries are still plentiful, so you may want to try this recipe, given to me by AnnMarie Toth. Though AnnMarie uses only fresh blueberries for this recipe, frozen can be substituted. Baking seems to be a skill, at which AnnMarie both enjoys and excels. She has been baking these little beauties for quite some time and her family raves about them. They are delectable!!! (That means “highly pleasing” in case you are wondering!) Go ahead, try them and “please” your family!
Garden Fresh Goodness
Jill’s Aunt Edith introduced the family to this layered goodness many years ago. When the garden overflows with fresh ripened produce, or when the neighbors start anonymously leaving bags of zucchini on your doorstep, why not try this easy to make dish?
A Tribute to Jackie Wyatt
This particular article is written in honor of Jackie Wyatt, who has served on the mission field with her husband George for 30 years this October 2010. With the help of Kristin Hammett, another missionary’s wife, I would like to share with you what a valuable asset Jackie is to me and to others, as well as a little of what she has taught us from her many years of experience.
Wacky Cake
As a busy mother, Becky Simmons sometimes needs a little baking help! Not necessarily a store bought mix, but in this case, a quick and easy homemade cake.
Seeded Wheat Baguette
I’ve recently been baking breads and experimenting with some different recipes. I’ve never owned or used a bread machine. I do believe that they are probably very convenient, but I also know that there’s nothing like mixing up some dough and kneading it by hand. It sounds like a big chore, but honestly, it takes a very small amount of time to mix some flour, yeast and a few other ingredients and knead them for less than 10 minutes. Yes, there is that rising time and forming time, but I just put on the timer, and forget about it until the buzzer tells me it has risen. Bread really is very simple…
Santa Fe Chicken and Rice
You know one of those recipes that you clip out of a magazine, then make some changes for yourself, pass it on to a friend who makes some more changes, and you end up with a recipe that is similar to how it started, but so much better? That is the kind of recipe we have today. Santa Fe Chicken and Rice was clipped by Kristin Hammett from a website (now forgotten!) and modified by her, then modified a bit more by Rachel, and then… Well, I’m sure we could go on. This is a one-pot, quick & easy dish that will be loved by adults and kids alike!
Crock Pot Italian Stuffed Meatloaf
Gina Hall enjoys crockpot cooking, and she also enjoys the ease of making and serving this meatloaf recipe for guests. The recipe came from a friend , who had gotten it from a magazine. Gina has made some changes and converted it to a crock pot recipe. She prefers to use 90 percent lean ground beef, which keeps it from getting too greasy. Gina also does not skimp on the cheese and she has tried several different types of ham. Pick what you prefer and the rest is up to you!
Jisela’s Spicy Savory Salsa Chicken
One night after coming home from work I was in a hurry to make dinner and couldn’t figure out what to make, being as I’m not in the habit of meal planning (shame on me!). I threw these items together, and Mike enjoyed the dish so much, that I’ve continued to make it. Necessity is the mother of invention? Is that how it goes?
In the Midst of Doubts and Fears
Darkness and fears over took me. I was overwhelmed and could not look up. The shadows of death surrounded my heart. Wisdom faded from view and I could not trust my own thoughts. Discouragement cut into my heart like a knife and joy escaped me. The terrors of the night seized my heart. I found no peace. My prayers seemed far from me and God was not in all my thoughts. Have these thoughts ever penetrated into your heart? If so, you are not alone in your fears and doubts. There are others that faced the same thoughts.
A Note from Juli
At the present, Mum’s off visiting her mother in AZ, leaving me as head hen over the coop. Dad’s done an amazing job of keeping up with the daunting piles of laundry and helping out with Brianna’s innumerable questions. Meanwhile, Dyanna, with the expert help of her friend, Amanda, is just about to wrap up her 2 month-long project of sewing cushion covers for our bus.
