Dear Ladies,
Greetings from Kentucky! Thus far our travels (driving) have taken us to Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. We also flew to South Carolina for a Missions conference there. We have made a lot of new friends along the way and have gotten to connect with some old friends too. That is one of the joys of traveling!
All of the churches we have been in so far have treated us royally. Several have given us gift baskets, others gift cards, and others have given us money to spend on special needs along the way. We are indeed humbled with the generosity of God’s people.
In every church we have been in so far, at least two or three people and sometimes more, have come up to us and told us they pray for us every day. That is such an encouragement to us! Sometimes when you send out prayer letters and reports and you don’t hear from anyone, you wonder if everyone has forgotten you. Even though you know it is not true, the devil can use those thoughts to discourage you. What a blessing to be in churches, some of them for the first time, and hear that people there know about your ministry and they have been praying for you and for those in your ministry. How sweet to hear some of them name those in Africa that they are praying for!
I tell you this for two reasons. One, even though you don’t think it is much, letting others know you are praying for them can be a big encouragement to them. Two, reading the letters from your missionary and praying for those prayer requests mentioned will help you to feel like you are a part of the ministry. It was a joy to talk to each of those people and to see their joy when they saw the pictures of the people they had been praying for.
So far we have gotten 2 new supporting churches. We praise the Lord for those. Continue to pray with us about more churches to support us. We need 5 or 6 more new churches, depending on their level of support.
We thank the Lord for safe travels thus far, for good weather, and for protection all along the way. We will be in Kentucky for another week and then we head north. Thank you ladies for your prayers!
