He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.Psalm 91:4
God’s Truth is our protection. Interesting thought! From what does His Truth provide a refuge? From the devil and his wiles, from the facades of this world, from the deceitfulness of sin, and from the doubts of our own hearts. Jesus is the Truth; God’s Word is Truth. Embrace the Truth! Before you lean unto your own understanding (or as soon as you realize you are), submit your thoughts and questions to Him and analyze them by the framework of His Word. Of all things, if you seek His Truth, will He not reveal it?? (“He shall cover thee with his feathers…”)
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.Psalm 91:14-16
Can you claim this promise? “Set his love” means “to cling, to join, to delight in.” We have a tendency to think we have to do things perfectly (ie—desire God with pure motives, fully, all the time) in order to claim His promises. But can this be a self-based trust? Trust Who God is. Delight in Him; cling to Him! And trust these promises, not because of the act you are doing but because He is faithful Who promised. Do you love God? Rest in the knowledge that He is with you in trouble then throw yourself into loving Him that much more, remembering all the while: He hears, answers, and delivers.
