A Smooth Transition

a smooth transition

Looking for a heat wave? Come to Thailand!

We turned the calendar page from February to March, and I’m fairly certain that little action signaled the temperature to soar to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. And yet the mornings are still cool, to the tune of 70 degrees or so. We’re currently in that “in-between” stage before every day becomes a dripping contest – as in, who can perspire more?!? 🙂

But I’m happy to report that we’ve readjusted to life in a foreign country. I was really surprised just how long it took us to get over jet lag and get things back up and running again on this end. We were home about a month before we felt like we were settled back in. So in reality, our “quick” trip of two months to the States turned in to four months with the preparation needed for the trip and returning back home to Thailand.
I jotted down a list of all that needed to be taken care of when we returned, just to give a quick glimpse of what it looked like for us to get settled back on the field. There wasn’t any one particular task that was overwhelming or stressful, but it was just a bunch of “little” things that needed attention.

So in no particular order:

We really did have a smooth transition in returning to the field. Our easy experience made us appreciate other missionaries who have had the hassle and stress of trying to find housing, vehicles, and personal items to resume functioning on the field. I’m grateful we were able to fly in to Chiang Mai, have friends pick us up from the airport, and go to sleep in our own beds that same night!

  1. Glad to hear you are settling back in well! Just wondering, how do you make your peanut butter?

    1. Throw a bunch of of peanuts in a blender and blend for a few minutes. I think Nat adds a punch of salt, but that’s it. 🙂
