Ingredients:
- 4.5 cups all purpose flour
- 4.5 cups raw unprocessed bran
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
Method:
Melt butter and sugar together. Then stir all ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread in a greased jelly roll pan. Bake 30-35 min 350*F. Should be nicely brown and feel done to the touch. Let cool for 5-10 min. Cut into "fingers" and turn on their sides. Pack loosely between 2 pans. Dry for 3 hours on 175*F . Can also add nuts, cinnamon, chocolate chips, raisins, etc.

Hi Kristin, just made my first batch (while in lock-down) and the house smells unbelievably good!!! Can’t wait to eat them with our morning coffee tomorrow.
I did not have buttermilk, so substituted with yoghurt and milk 70-30, and one cup of butter with a cup of oil (butter is so expensive), so it might come out a little different than yours, but I am excited!
Thank you for this great receipe!
