Tribute to My Mom

My Mom is the greatest! I don’t think she realizes how meaningful these little things were to me as I was growing up. A few things that I’ve learned from my Mom….

~ People are more important than things and schedules. I remember a small plaque on our kitchen wall, which read: “My house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy!”

~ Mom sang to us each night after our bedtime prayers: “He Owns the Cattle on a Thousand Hills” and “Thank You, Lord, for Saving My Soul!” Such comforting thoughts for us children to go to sleep on!

~ Mom filled our home with good music! Godly music records (yes, good old LP records!) played on our stereo during the day. If we girls were sick in bed, the record player was our companion!

~ My Mom knows no strangers. She is friendly to everyone, takes time to get to know grocery store employees, restaurant waitresses, etc., and she is not afraid to speak for Christ! Another plaque in our home read: “Only one life, ‘twill soon be past; Only what’s done for Christ will last.”

~ This well-known quotation I am happy to claim as true: “Richer than me you will never be; for I have a Mother who read to me!”

Thank you, Mom, for your godly life and example to me and my children! I appreciate your love and daily prayers for us!
