“The wise man built his house upon a rock…” And now, you’ll have that song going through your head all day!
Recently in one of our group 4-week salvation Bible studies, my husband started the study by asking this question:
What is the foundation for building your life?
It’s a question we all should ask ourselves frequently. The fear of man is such a snare! Don’t just answer the plastic Christian answer. Stop. Examine your thoughts and your ways.
Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
As we discussed in the study, if we are not careful we can build our foundation for what God is like, what is right, and what is wrong based on:
Experiences – seems right to us
Traditions – seems right to family
Experts – seems right to others
Man’s wisdom isn’t sufficient. Am I basing my decisions on the reasoning of man instead of on what God has revealed in His Word? Don’t just take someone’s word for it. Let the Light of God’s Word in on everything in daily life.
2 Peter 1:19 “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:”
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
My Hope is Jesus – the anchor of my soul,
The Ruler of this universe, the One Who’s in control.
He saved me, and He will keep me till the end.
The rock of my salvation on Christ I will depend.
My hope is Jesus.

You’re so right, Kristin–we need to base our life on what IS right, not just on what SEEMS right. Thanks!
